Our EquiAccess team and our student advocates continued their media outreach to Adoa TV. Together they used the platform to speak clearly about children’s rights and how every one of us can help create a Ghana where all children, including those who are street-connected, are heard and protected. Our young advocates carried this message with confidence. Abdul brought the discussion to life with a story from his own neighbourhood. He met a peer who had never been told they had rights at all. Abdul explained it in the language his community understands. No complicated terms. No barriers. Just one young person helping another to recognise their own value. That is the strength of peer education and the reason EquiAccess continues to make an impact. Leticia then turned to parents and guardians watching from home. She reminded them that decisions about children must include children. She encouraged families to make room for young people to express themselves in matters that shape their daily lives, from school to health to home. A child who is listened to is a child who is safer. This is what student-led advocacy looks like. The EquiAccess Project, funded by CSC, is working to ensure that children are not only protected but also included. We will continue visiting media houses to keep this message alive and to push for a Ghana where every child’s voice counts. #AccesstoJustice #StarlightFoundation #JusticeInReach #WeAreCommitted #ConsortiumForStreetChildren #EquiAccess

The International Day for Street Children came and went, but the work does not pause for a calendar. Starlight Foundation showed up on EduNews 360 because representation is not a moment; it is a commitment. Our conversation centred on the IDSC 2026 theme of Access to Justice, and more specifically on a principle we refuse to let go of: protect, not punish. Because far too often, the children society should be wrapping arms around are the same ones being pushed further to the margins.

The work of protecting rather than punishing children, and fighting for access to justice and inclusive education, does not stop when the International Day for Street Children comes to an end. Our Assistant Project Manager and one of our youth advocates under the EquiAccess initiative recently took that conversation further, putting accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity in front of a wider audience. It was an honest and grounded discussion, one that brought to life the day-to-day realities many children and young people face, while also speaking to the purpose behind what we are building together. At its core, our goal is straightforward. We want to empower high-risk and street-connected children through legal education and rights awareness programmes that actually reach them where they are. We are also doing this work alongside our young people, not just for them, co-creating solutions that are built to last and that push back against the discrimination street-connected children face far too often. We are also proud to share that we have put in place a legal framework and a safe space where vulnerable children can come forward and report abuse or any harm done to them by a perpetrator, without fear. The EquiAccess initiative is proudly funded by the Consortium for Street Children. #EquiAccess #InclusionMatters #AccesstoJustice #StarlightFoundation #JusticeInReach #WeAreCommitted #ConsortiumForStreetChildren
Starlight Foundation's EquiAccess: The Conversation Continues Beyond IDSC
We sat down with Movement TV ahead of IDSC 2026, and honestly, it felt like one of those conversations that needed to happen. Not just for us, but for every child living and surviving on the streets who deserves to be seen, heard, and fought for. We talked openly about what we have been building towards for this year's International Day for Street Children. The activities, the projects already in motion, and a few things we are not quite ready to reveal just yet. What we can tell you is that every single piece of it has been put together with intention and care. The International Day for Street Children is not a tick-box exercise for us. It never has been. It is a genuine opportunity to shift how communities think, talk, and respond to the realities street children face every single day. Awareness without action means very little, and that is why we are going further this year. Starlight Foundation and Adamfo Ghana are joining hands to make sure this message reaches beyond a screen or a social media post. We are taking it to the streets, into schools, and through the heart of communities where it matters most. To Movement TV, thank you for giving us the space to speak truthfully about something so important. The platform you offered will carry this message further than we could alone. #AccessToJustice #ChildRights #StarlightFoundation #AdamfoGhana #JusticeForChildren
Starlight Foundation: Speaking Up for Street Children (IDSC 2026)
The Starlight Foundation and our partners, Adamfo Ghana, have joined hands this year to run a media awareness campaign, among other activities aimed at educating communities across the country on the rights of every child. This is not simply about getting the word out. It is about restoring dignity to children who have been overlooked, strengthening the systems meant to keep them safe, and opening up real opportunities for families who have, for too long, been left to struggle alone. When families truly understand their rights, something shifts. Conversations change, cycles begin to break, and hope stops being a distant idea and becomes something people can actually hold on to. We want you to be part of this. Follow along as we share stories, practical insights and meaningful actions you can take in the days leading up to April 12th. Every voice that speaks up matters, and every child deserves to feel that safety is not a privilege but a guarantee. #AccessToJustice #ChildRights #StarlightFoundation #AdamfoGhana #JusticeForChildren #ProtectChildren #IDSC2026 #StreetChildrenDay #ProtectNotPunish
Starlight Foundation: International Day for Street Children 2026
"If you're fighting to get families off the streets, why feed them there? Aren't you encouraging them to stay?" The answer is NO. Starlight Foundation was built to be a beacon of hope. Our Founder, once street-connected himself, knows that representation matters. We must advocate for those still living this reality. This December initiative isn't just about giving – it's about visibility. It reminds society that whilst we celebrate, part of our community still struggles, making our claims of "equality for all" hollow. We feed them because they're hungry today. We advocate because they deserve dignity tomorrow. We work towards sustainable solutions because they deserve a future beyond the streets. To our donors, funders, sponsors, partners, members, and volunteers – thank you for your support. You transform compassion into action. To institutions and organisations: Partner with us. Together, we can reduce streetism through education, empowerment, and other impactful initiatives. Representation is advocacy. Visibility is the first step to change. Every child deserves a home, not just a meal. #StarlightFoundation #LetsFeedTheStreetsTogether #EndStreetism #BeABeaconOfHope #PartnerWithUs

Vocational Training and Skills Development is one of the possible ways Starlight Foundation and Adamfo Ghana are using to curb streetism in Ghana, specifically Accra, the capital city of Ghana, where over sixty-one thousand four hundred and ninety-two children are on the streets struggling to make ends meet (Afful, 2025). The results obtained showed that 43% of the total population were males and 57% were females. This alarming increase in children living on the street is one of the major threats to the development of our dear country and also to our national security. With this, Starlight, together with its esteemed partners, is consciously contributing to the reduction of this canker through the Menso Meka Ho Bi project. Over the years, we have transformed over 30 families to become financially stable and enabled them to move their families from the street while keeping the children in school. We say this with pride, as contributing to good and sustainable nation building, and it is our plea that other stakeholders and the government will pause and put the interests of its people, most especially women and children, first. Our goal is simple: to empower parents economically so they can escape the trap of this canker, which has become a hindrance to the future of our children. #SkillsDevelopment #AdamfoGhana #SocialImpact #Ghana #Entrepreneurship #VocationalTraining #StarlightFoundation #MensoMekaHoBi #CommunityDevelopment #SustainableLivelihoods #JanTuithof #SocialEnterprise

On December 25, 2024, our members led the “Let’s Feed the Streets Together” initiative, visiting numerous locations in Accra to distribute hot meals, beverages, clothing, sanitary supplies, shoes, and toys to children and families experiencing homelessness. Free health screenings were provided to ensure the well-being of these children, and we made a special donation to the Echoing Hills Village orphanage. #StarlightFoundation #AceofHeartsFoundation #HoldMyHandsFoundation #LetsFeedTheStreetsTogether #MerryChristmas2024 #SupportUsToday #NGO #Children #SayNoToStreetism #StreetConnectedChildren #TransformingLives #CommunityLove #SocialImpact #Kindness

The Starlight Foundation remains committed to uplifting street-connected children not just during the holidays, but year-round. We believe these children deserve education, healthcare, nurturing and opportunities to reach their full potential. Although challenges remain, our sustainable tailored initiatives reaffirm our hope and motivate us to continue our critical work. We look forward to reaching even more children this year and beyond. With the continued support of our donors, partners, members, volunteers and the local communities, we can bring comfort along with food and festivities during the holidays. Most importantly, we can convey that no child in Accra should feel forgotten or alone. #StarlightFoundation #TripleAGroupe #HoldMyHandsFoundation #LetsFeedTheStreetTogether #MerryChristmas2023 #SupportUsToday #NGO #Kids #Children #SayNoToStreetism #StreetConnectedChildren #TransformingLives #CreatingImpact
