Our Annual Reports

Often, we portray them as being street children when what they need is to be represented. When
we describe them with their physical appearance, it paints a picture devoid of one action;
representation. When we represent them, we acknowledge their situation, we place ourselves in
their position to feel their anxiety and suffering so that the feeling mimics our action towards them.

The year 2020 began with high hopes for the foundation when we first met with widowed persons
on January 1, 2020, at Ayikuma. It was the beginning of greater things as subsequent projects
followed; ‘Teach Them Young’ where we took our young ones through what we deem as life
essentials. Along the line COVID-19 hit all of us, however, this was the perfect moment to execute
our ‘Save A Life’ project, one we call our Emergency Response Initiative. Within selected places in
Accra, we donated foodstuffs and COVID-19 essentials such as Hand Sanitisers, Liquid Soaps, Nose Mask and tissue to street children and the less privileged.

Our year began with widowed persons in Ekon-Community in Cape Coast. This was followed
by our emergency response initiative, “Save a Life”. The focus this year was on the aged and
children and specifically addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases since
most of the health focus had been on COVID-19. Our train took us to Suhum-Newtown
where we screened over 150 children and the aged on malaria, blood pressure and general
health screening.

The year 2022 was particularly noteworthy for our foundation since it marked the fifthanniversary of our existence. Documents show Starlight Foundation has existed for four years with an established date of July 13, 2018. However, the foundation started its operations in 2017 with its first project “Our Sanitation, Our Health” which was spearheaded by one of the godfathers of the Founders named Mr. Samuel Kwadjo Oteng, who passed away on August 5, 2021, after a short illness.

In 2023 alone, we held our first staff retreat to empower our team members and volunteer through
professional development and collaboration. We also provided local and international capacity building opportunities through the YEP initiative, enabling our people to enhance their skills. These investments in our most valuable asset – our people – will enable us to magnify our impact.

As we reflect on 2024, I am deeply proud to share that Starlight Foundation has achieved remarkable milestones through our impact-driven projects and the extraordinary dedication of our members and volunteers. The strategic goals we outlined on our 2023 vision board have come to fruition through the commitment of our entire team in pursuit of our shared mission. Our organisation continues to forge lasting solutions to pressing community challenges, and we take immense pride in the tangible progress demonstrated across all our projects and programmes.
