Who We Are

Starlight Foundation is a registered Ghanaian community-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering street-connected children by creating an enabling environment for their enhanced life and promising future. Our all-inclusive approach addresses their immediate needs while generating opportunities for long-term well-being and self-sufficiency.

Our key initiatives include providing access to quality education through strategic partnerships, offering vocational training for age-appropriate candidates, and conducting public education campaigns to raise awareness about the challenges of streetism in Ghana. Driven by a team of dedicated professionals, we work collaboratively to create lasting positive change in our communities, focusing on sustainable solutions that promote individual growth and community development.

Our Mission

We exist to create an environment that empowers street-connected children and vulnerable youth to build a promising future. Through advocacy, comprehensive support, skills development, and research, we work to remove barriers and open pathways to opportunity.

Our Approach

Early Intervention

We believe prevention is more effective than rehabilitation. Our early intervention programmes identify children at risk of street life and provide timely support to keep them in school and connected to their families. Working hand in hand with schools and communities, we implement early warning systems, deliver preventive counselling, and organise awareness sessions on the dangers of streetism. By strengthening family stability and offering guidance, we address root causes before they escalate.

Empowerment Through Education

Education is the light that dispels the darkness of poverty. We remove barriers to learning by providing scholarships, school supplies, meals, and transport for street-connected children. Beyond access, we ensure that every child has the tools and support to succeed academically. Through education, we create pathways out of street life and lay the foundation for lasting transformation.

All Inclusive Care

Our whole-child approach recognises that education alone is not enough. We provide healthcare, nutrition, counselling, and life skills training to nurture physical, emotional, and mental well-being. By addressing the full context of each child's life, we help them build resilience and thrive in a safe, supportive environment.

Community Collaboration

True change is collective. Guided by the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” we work with families, community leaders, local organisations, and government agencies to create a web of support around children. These partnerships amplify impact, promote shared responsibility, and ensure sustainability. Together, we drive systemic change that benefits not only individual children but entire communities.

Our Vision

We envision a world of hope where every child and young person can grow up safe, healthy and free from threats, with the chance to reach their full potential. Through strategic partnerships and active community engagement, we are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering lasting, positive change in underprivileged communities across Ghana.
